HSA World Anaesthesia Day Awareness Event
In recognition of World Anaesthesia Day on October 16th, the HSA Anaesthesia team will be hosting an awareness session in the Hibiscus Conference Room A from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. This event will highlight the critical role of anaesthesia in patient care and the well-being of healthcare professionals.
All staff are invited. The event is also open to our patients and visitors. Please come out and support our Anaesthesia Team!
World Anaesthesia Day commemorates the first successful demonstration of ether anaesthesia by Dr. William T.G. Morton in 1846 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. This groundbreaking event marked the birth of anaesthesia, revolutionising the practice of surgery and making pain-free surgical procedures possible.
The theme for World Anaesthesia Day 2024 is “Workforce Well-Being”, which originated from the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA). Each year, the WFSA selects a theme to highlight critical aspects of anaesthesia practice. This year’s focus is on the mental, emotional, and physical health of anaesthesia professionals worldwide. The aim is to address burnout, occupational stress, and promote strategies to improve workforce well-being, ensuring healthcare professionals receive the support needed to manage the demands of their work.
